The Original Kedel Play Barn/Play Den - an absolutely maintenance free indoor or outdoor product
When we presented this Play Den to children at a school in Yorkshire they were delighted, and in a few minutes were inside it on a few cushions, reading and playing away happily.
Perhaps you remember your own childhood efforts to create a den to gather in with your friends.
We used an old wooden clothes maiden with a sheet or blanket over the top.
It gave you a feeling of being safe and cosy.
And yes, I may be giving away my age, but even in later life we still look for a quiet spot to gather and relax from time to time.
The play den is the children's equivalent.
This was the first of several Play Dens of different designs that we were commissioned to create, along with matching Play Kitchen Cooker, Play Fridge, Play Washing Machine, Play Sink Unit, Tables with reversible tops, playground Picnic Tables and Benches, and all in multicoloured recycled plastic.
We call this our Rainbow Range.
Our product designer had a lot of fun with this project and we got him to work some very unsocial hours to get them all finished in time.
Children absolutely love them!
And these designs are very impressive for parents too, as well as showing the school's commitment to recycling, ensuring a sustainable future for the planet and our children.
30% of landfill is filled with plastic.
That's a great waste though it is attracting investment from companies wishing to harvest the plastic from the landfill and turn it into energy or recycled it in other ways.
There are projects underway in Belgium and USA and 4 in the UK.
But we still think the best use of waste plastic is to keep recycling it into new products using the least amount of energy and supplying the demand for more durable, maintenance free outdoor furniture, and other similar products.
Recycled plastic production uses 66% less energy and produces 250% less carbon dioxide a major greenhouse gas contributing to global warming.
